About physical and sensory impairments
A local register of people with sensory impairments shows that in 2014 there were 1,726 adults in derby either blind or partially sighted. Over half of these have a severe impairment or are blind.
501 cases are of people aged 18 to 64, which are similar numbers to 2011.
399 of the people with a visual impairment also have other needs which the table beneath shows are predominately physical disabilities.
