Sitwell Street resurfacing to begin mid-June

A major resurfacing scheme is due to get underway on Moor Street and Sitwell Street, Spondon, from Monday 15 June. The scheme is expected to take five weeks to complete and will see around 7250sqm of road surface repaired.

Starting at Moor End, the works will be completed as follows:

• Stage 1 – Moor Street – full length from Moor End to Sitwell Street
• Stage 2 – Sitwell Street – this will be delivered in five phases:
• Phase 1 – Lodge Lane to Sitwell Street
• Phase 2 – Sitwell Street to Willowcroft Roundabout
• Phase 3 – Willowcroft Roundabout
• Phase 4 – Sitwell Street, from Willowcroft Roundabout to Spondon Library
• Phase 5 – Sitwell Street, from Spondon Library to The White Swan

Each phase will include resurfacing the road as well as repairs to manhole covers, kerbs and gullies where needed.

There will be a road closure with signed diversions in place for the duration of the scheme. Residents will be able to access their homes and traffic marshals will be on site to help. There could be occasions where access is delayed for a few moments – please be patient.

Bin collections will take place as normal so please present your bins on their usual collection day.

Local businesses and shops will always be accessible so please do support them.

Work will take place on site between 8.00am and 5.00pm each weekday. Currently we have no plans to do any work at evenings or weekends, but this could change, subject to progress.

We’ve invested additional funding into our highways budget to enable us to undertake more of these essential resurfacing schemes. We know that schemes like this can be disruptive, but we hope that residents will agree that the long-term benefits to their neighbourhood are worth the short-term disruption and that the work is very much needed.  Sitwell Street is long overdue repairs and it will be great to see the new surface contribute to the vibrancy of Spondon District Centre.
