Popular Derby development named as finalist in the Inside Housing Development Awards

Leading regeneration specialist Compendium Living’s Castleward development in Derby has been announced as a finalist at this year’s Inside Housing Development Awards.  

The Inside Housing Development Awards celebrate the very best residential developments across the UK, with Castleward being shortlisted in the ‘Best development (urban – outside of London)’ category.

Castleward is a £100m development close to Derby city centre, creating a new sustainable community of 800 new homes and businesses across a 30-acre brownfield site. Work on Phase 2 of the development, consisting of 42 two and three-bedroom homes and apartments for open market sale and 12 two-bedroom affordable apartments, completed last November. All of the affordable apartments are now occupied and only one open market property is still available to purchase.

The placemaking project began in 2013 and is set to run until at least 2028, creating apprenticeships and work experience opportunities along with the new housing. The project has also seen the creation of a new Boulevard and public open space with public artwork.

Castleward is a hugely important housing-led regeneration scheme that will support continued economic growth in the city, whilst also helping to enhance the local area; and this is only the beginning! With the support of its partners, the Council has sought a compulsory purchase of land to continue the regeneration of Castleward, providing a further 512 homes by 2030.
