The Household Support Fund will help certain Derby households with the cost of living

Financial support will soon become available to certain Derby households in order to help with the current cost of living.

The Household Support Fund will provide financial support for:

  1. Families during term breaks
  2. Households with a pensioner in receipt of Council Tax Support (CTS)
  3. On-line applications available to Derby residents

Financial support will be provided to Derby households with families who are eligible for free school meals. This support will be received during the term break in May and during the six-week summer holiday, at £10 per child per week. This will continue to be distributed as voucher codes, through schools, with one payment in May and another in July.

Financial support will be provided to Derby households with a pensioner in receipt of Council Tax Support (CTS). They will receive a one-off payment of £115, which will be paid directly to the household. This payment is one per household and not per pensioner within the household. We are working on how best to make this payment, and we will announce these details shortly.

Financial support for Derby households will be provided, as previously, through an online application form where proof of benefits and the latest bank statement will be required. This application form will be available from the week commencing 30 May 2022.

Successful applications will receive a one-off payment in vouchers of:

  • £120 for a household with children
  • £100 for a couple
  • £80 for a single person

Vouchers can be redeemed at any combination of the supermarket chains:

  • Aldi
  • Asda
  • Farmfoods
  • Iceland
  • Marks and Spencer
  • Morrisons
  • Sainsbury's
  • Tesco
  • Waitrose

Councillor Evonne Williams, cabinet member for children, young people and skills, said:

We know that the current cost of living has increased and some households may be struggling. We hope that the Household Support Fund may be able to assist families with the cost of food shopping and energy bills.

If you are eligible, we encourage you to find out more about the Household Support Fund on our webpage.”

Once your application is completed, our team will attempt to make payment within 10 working days. If more information is needed, this payment time make take longer. The vouchers will hopefully help towards relieving the price of food shopping so that household income can be spent on other household needs such as gas and electricity.
