Celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with us between 2 and 5 June

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is just around the corner and the whole nation is preparing, including Derby.

We have a whole host of exciting events occurring between Thursday 2 Jun and Sunday 5 Jun to help mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. These include A Right Royal Knees Up!, the Queen’s Jubilee Beacon Lighting Ceremony, Jubilee Royal Engineers Parade, Platinum Party at the Market Place, Platinum Party at the Palace Screening and the Big Jubilee Lunch at the Market Place.

To be able to keep everyone safe while hosting these events for Derby to enjoy, there will be some road and car park closures. The full list of closures can be found on our roadworks web page

Between 8am and 2:30pm on both Full Street and Sowter Road will be closed on the days of our events. Similarly, Derwent Street, Corporation Street, Tenant Street, Morledge, Albert Street and Victoria Street will be closed between 11:30am and 2:30pm.

Our Sales and Information point, located to the side of the Guildhall Theatre on the market place, will be open between 12noon and 9:30pm on Saturday 4 Jun and between 12noon and 5:30pm on Sunday 5 Jun and will also be the location for catering. Hot drinks such as tea and coffee, cold soft drinks cans, bottled water, ice cream, sweets, chocolate bars, flapjacks, crisps, and popcorn will be available for purchase. While you’re there, be sure to buy a Union Jack flag!

In a change to previous announcements, the Fire Trail which accompanies the Queen’s Jubilee Beacon Lighting Ceremony on Thu 2 Jun, has a new route. The trail will now run from the door of Derby Cathedral across the Cathedral Garden and down Amen Alley to the back of the Cathedral. Spectators will be able to wander through the area between 9pm and 11pm on the day.

The long weekend of events is gearing up to be a once in a lifetime experience to remember; we hope to see everyone join us for this celebration.
