About Meadow Lane footbridge
As part of the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme we have replaced Meadow Lane Footbridge, over the A52 between Chaddesden and Wyvern.
The new bridge is a modern, well designed structure that significantly enhances walking and cycling in the area. It creates a fully accessible link between residential and commercial areas for pedestrians, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchair users and cyclists.
It offers many improvements over the old bridge, with ramped approaches, a four metre wide deck and an anti-slip surface on the ramps and deck. It has handrail lighting, designed to have minimal impact on nearby residential properties whilst providing safety for bridge users.
The new footbridge opened on 29th October 2020.
You can watch a time lapse film of the new footbridge being installed and also see a time lapse film of the footbridge demolition which took place in 2019.
