Footbridge art project
The new footbridge will feature an arts project made up of images that will reference the ‘We are Derby’ poem written by local poet Jamie Thrasivoulou. The poem represents the social DNA of both the city and its people. It describes what’s important about Derby, its people, heritage and legacy. The poem refers to some of Derby County managers and players, including Brian Clough, Peter Taylor, Paulo Wanchope and Steve Bloomer.
In July 2020, we asked Rams fans to tell us their ultimate Derby County football team, made up of players, past and present.
The visual images of the final starting 11 and one coach, will be featured on the new footbridge that will be used by thousands of fans. The 12 visual images will be created and installed on the two access walkways of the bridge. They will be further enhanced by additional images representing other elements of the ‘We are Derby’ poem such as the city’s industrial, social and cultural heritage.
