Repair cafés
Keep Britain Tidy recently said recycling should be a last resort. And they’re right. When something reaches the end of its life or is no longer wanted, prioritising repair or reuse is much better for the environment. We’re not saying recycling has no place, it’s still much better than putting something in the rubbish bin, it’s just that reuse and repair is better. Repair cafés are a worldwide network on a mission to cut waste and build up repair skills.
Derby Libraries are looking to start repair cafés and they need your help! Repair cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things -together.
Are you handy with fixing electronics, bikes or anything else? Can you sew? Do you have a knack for computers? Do you enjoy meeting and helping people? If you’re interested or want to find out more, please email libraries@derby.gov.uk.
