Support for adults
The team empowers Deaf and Deafblind people to live as independently as possible. Some Deaf people may need a little bit of support for a short time, other people may need more support for longer. We work together with Deaf people to get the support that is needed and review this regularly. Some support will be through services or activities available to the wider community, but some people may need and be eligible for (qualify for) a personal budget to pay for the help they need. Everyone is an individual and needs different support so everyone will get different amounts of money in their budgets.
For more information about personal budgets see our Personal Budgets page.
Deaf people need to feel safe in the community but problems do happen sometimes. Social workers in the Deaf Services team work with other agencies to safeguard Deaf people, try to resolve the problems and help Deaf people feel safe again.
