The local offer to kinship carers
Derby City Children’s Social Care want to provide kinship carers with a local offer. This local offer has been reviewed and completed jointly with kinship carers in Derby.
The aim is to provide information about all the services and support that is available to kinship carers who reside in Derby or care for children who have resided in Derby before. This information will tell you about what you can expect from us. This support may vary depending on your own and the child or young peoples’ circumstances. The local authority has a duty to help and support family members and friends who are looking after someone else’s child.
We aim to provide support to all kinship carers but there are elements that differ which will be further explained in the offer. If you are not sure whether you qualify for support, you can contact the Family and Friends’ team or speak to your or the child’s social worker, if they have one at the time.
This offer will be reviewed and published annually, and we will aim to seek consultation from kinship carers for input.
The offer is open to all Derby kinship carers. We have some things that we must do as a service, but we have also recognised what is important to you as carers and have incorporated these.
