A new high quality office development is planned for Cathedral Green, as outlined in November’s Cabinet report.
The new development, presently known as One Cathedral Green, will see the creation of 42,900 sq. ft. of office space created in a prime location in Derby City Centre. The building will create quality workspaces for new and existing businesses and bring investment into the city as well as being part of the wider regeneration of the Cathedral Quarter.
The development will support the need and supply of larger office spaces that are in high demand in the city centre.
One Cathedral Green, was previously planned to be used by UNITE, the union, as their regional headquarters but the scheme stalled. Acknowledging the importance of progressing a scheme here Derby City Council has intervened to buy the site and the completed office scheme.
The development is due to be completed by the end of 2021 and will be a major contribution towards delivering part of the City Centre Masterplan 2030 objectives and Derby’s Local Plan aspirations.
Steve Hall, Chair of the Derby Renaissance Board, said:
This is an important site at the heart of Derby and the scheme proposed is a key part of the city centre master plan. It is, therefore, hugely positive to see concerted efforts being made to bring this long-awaited development to reality.
The Cabinet approved this investment at Council Cabinet on Wednesday 13th November.
