A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme update

Recent work to construct new slip roads and roundabouts on The Wyvern are well underway
With over 18 million vehicles using the road each year, the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme is a key infrastructure project for our city, which will bring significant benefits to a congested part of Derby’s principal road network, offering improved access to the city and supporting wider economic growth.
Recent work to construct new slip roads and roundabouts on The Wyvern are well underway following intensive work over the summer period.
From Monday 9th September, drivers will benefit from a new third lane on the westbound carriageway between Raynesway and Wyvern, and the opening of the improved realigned slip road, making a smoother transition onto the Wyvern.
Both the Derwent Parade and Stanier Way roundabouts will also be open with single lane traffic around the circulatory.
Whilst improvement works continue on site, there will be no right turn from Wyvern Way into Pullman Road and the Sidings for vehicles travelling from the A52 eastbound due to the concrete barriers that are in place to segregate the road. Drivers will need to proceed to Derwent Parade island. Depending on traffic flow, there may be temporary two-way traffic lights in place at the Pullman Road and Wyvern Way junction.
The Wyvern to A52 westbound on-slip road will remain closed until the new footbridge has been fitted into place and the access ramps have been built.

A drop in event has been organised for Wyvern and Pride Park businesses to find out more about the works, and the next phase of work, and to talk to members of the team. This is taking place tomorrow (Friday 6th September) in the Corolla Lounge, at Pride Park Stadium
