Connect Derby, the city’s primary managed workspace provider, has published the results of its annual business community survey and the statistics reveal why so many new and developing businesses continue to make Connect Derby their home.

The survey measures the levels of service Connect Derby provides across all areas of its operation – from the quality of its workspaces and meeting rooms to broadband speeds, security and the friendliness of its reception staff.

This year, Connect Derby received an 83% response rate from the 198 businesses across the seven diverse buildings within its portfolio – Friar Gate Studios, Kings Chambers, Sadler Bridge Studios, Marble Hall, Riverside Chambers, Shot Tower and the iHub innovation centre.

98% of respondents said Connect Derby meets or exceeds their expectations in providing buildings that are a safe and secure place to work, thanks to its high-level intruder alarm and secure door fob systems.

94% of businesses reported that Connect Derby meets or exceeds their expectations as a place of work, with 92% saying the quality of its workspaces meets or exceeds their expectations.

94% also said the Connect Derby team meets or exceeds their expectations in the level of support they provide.

Connect Derby’s reception team was also praised, with 95% of respondents saying that the service they provide meets or exceeds their expectations.

IT was another area of success with 93% of businesses reporting that its IT network, internet access and Wi-Fi meets or exceeds their expectations.

Overall, 91% of customers said they would recommend Connect Derby to other businesses looking for managed workspace in the city.

The survey also highlighted areas for improvement over the next 12 months, with 86% reporting that Connect Derby meets or exceeds their expectations for providing buildings that are a clean place to work in.

82% of tenants said Connect Derby’s meeting rooms currently meet or exceed their expectations and 74% said its maintenance service meets or exceeds their expectations.

Commenting on the survey results, Ann Bhatti, head of Connect Derby, said:

We’ve received very positive service ratings from our customers and would like to thank them for being fair in their assessment of our services. Providing us with this feedback will enable us to ensure they continue to receive the first-class levels of service they have come to expect. We are committed to continued improvement and based on the feedback provided, there are areas we can improve, so we will be working with our suppliers and internal council services to make improvements in a number of areas. This includes improving building maintenance, servicing and cleaning services. We will also be embarking on a programme to redecorate the communal spaces in the coming weeks.

The multi-million Connect Derby project includes seven managed workspaces and provides SMEs, micro businesses and entrepreneurs with the high specification working environment, IT infrastructure and business support they need to act as a catalyst for expansion and growth.
