Online classes to resume as leisure centres close

Derby Arena is one of the buildings closing it's doors during the lockdown.

Following the Government’s announcement of new national restrictions due to COVID-19, Derby Arena, Queen’s Leisure Centre and Springwood Leisure Centre will close their doors to the public on Wednesday 4 Nov, at their normal closure time.

During the spring lockdown, many of our members felt real benefits from following our Derby Active at Home programme of online classes and activities. We are pleased to announce that Derby Active at Home will be returning via our Facebook page and YouTube channel for the next four weeks. Details of the programme will be posted online as soon as we can confirm them.

Our Derby Active at Home programme is led by our Health and Wellbeing Advisors, coaches and leisure staff, who want to ensure your fitness and wellbeing is paramount during this uncertain time. The online web and Facebook programme includes daily fitness classes, healthy tips and advice, wellbeing advice, cycling training programmes and bike maintenance. For the kids we have gymnastics, trampolining, Learn to Swim tips, coaching advice and activities to do.

During March lockdown, our Facebook classes were very popular and grew from 100 to over 1.4k people joining the page. The Derby Active team will be delivering another weekly programme with live and pre-recorded classes led by our dedicated Derby Active Health and Wellbeing Advisors, join us online.

The programme will include all your favourite classes, such as Body Combat, Dance Fit, Pilates and Yoga. The Derby Active at Home programme is free for everyone to enjoy and welcomes you to join.
