The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) which has been in operation to provide for businesses not eligible for the main Local Restrictions Support Grant is to be closed from 5pm Tuesday 4th May.

The ARG is a scheme for those businesses who have been severely impacted by the national lockdown (beginning 5th Jan 2021) but do not have a rateable value or have not been mandated to close.

The scheme has supported over 1300 businesses across the city to date who were severely impacted by the national lockdown.

Final applications to be considered for the grant before the closure should be made through the Business financial Support pages of the Council website. Please note that those that have already applied to the scheme should not submit further applications as your eligibility for support has already been considered.

Many businesses may now be eligible for restart grants so are invited to review the eligibility criteria for that scheme and apply through the Business Financial Support pages of the Council website.

Simon Riley, Strategic Director of Corporate Resources at Derby City Council, said:

The past year has been an undoubtedly difficult time for our city’s businesses, but as we begin to ease the lockdown, we hope that financial pressure will also reduce.

We welcome the additional funding from Government to provide extra support for Derby’s economy as we begin our recovery from COVID.

We would encourage all businesses who are eligible to apply as soon as possible. We will, as ever, endeavour to process applications and payments as efficiently and quickly as possible.
