A new video released by Derby City Council reveals the huge new flumes being installed at Moorways Sports Village.
The two multistorey flumes will be part of the new water park. Other rides will include racer slides, wave rider and England’s first wave generating wow-ball. The exciting facility is set to open in Spring 2022.
Councillor Ross McCristal, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said:
Like many others I’m excited to see these flumes go up. The project is really taking shape, delivery has been excellent, construction is on time and on budget. This facility will be fantastic for the people to enjoy and live active lifestyles.
The 50m pool includes innovative technology using moving floors and booms. These can create three separate 25m pools and cater for a range of sessions by raising or lowering the floor to create different depths.
The state-of-the-art facility will have a spacious, modern gym fitted out with the latest equipment including three health and fitness studios, as well as sauna and steam rooms. A cafe will offer a range of refreshments, next to cafe there will be a soft play area for young children.
Derby City Council is currently recruiting an external partner to operate Moorways Sports Village. The council believes that this move will bring added value to Derby’s health, wellbeing and leisure offer, whilst delivering value for money for the city.
Moorways Sports Village is due to open to customers in spring 2022 and attract visitors from across the region.
