On Thursday 6th May residents in Derby will take part in the Local and PCC Elections to elect Councillors in all 17 wards of the city and a Police and Crime Commissioner.
In order to vote residents must be on the electoral register.
The deadline to register to vote for this election is less than three weeks away at midnight on Tuesday 19th April and Derby City Council is urging residents who have not registered at their current address to make sure they’re registered in time.
Anyone can apply online and it takes just five minutes. You’ll just need your national Insurance Number.
People who’ve recently moved home or have just turned 18 are particularly recommended to check to make sure they are registered, and take action if not.
Emily Feenan, Director of Legal, Procurement and Democratic Services and Monitoring Officer for Derby City Council said:
Local Elections are the perfect opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on how Derby is run. If you’re not registered by 19 April, you won’t be able to vote this time.
If you were registered to vote in the last election and your details have not changed, you’ll still be registered to vote. If in doubt, check your details by emailing elections@derby.gov.uk or call 01332 640837.
