Gayton Swimming Pool is managed by Gayton Pool Ltd, on behalf of Derby City Council. It delivers a range of swimming activities including learn to swim lessons, aqua-classes, general swimming as well as school swimming and swimming clubs sessions.
Ian Cotter, Director at Gayton Pool Ltd said:
We are very grateful to Derby City Council and Sport England for their support in helping us to reopen Gayton pool and welcome back local people of all ages so that they can enjoy all the health and social benefits of swimming.
“As with other sports facilities, the stop/start over the past year has been very frustrating but the response from the public since April 12 has been extremely positive and we are confident that the Covid-safe measures that are in place will contribute to the road map to our staff and customers getting back to normal.
Cllr Robin Wood, Derby City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Sport said:
This is great news for the Gayton Pool and the community of Littleover. The grant will help provide some much-needed stability for the pool at a time when we’ve never needed access to leisure facilities more, for our physical and mental wellbeing.
The Government’s £100m National Leisure Recovery Fund was created to support eligible publicly owned leisure services to reopen to the public, and to give the sport and physical activity sector the best opportunity of recovery to a position of sustainable operation over the medium term.
