Prices for leisure activities at the new Moorways Sports Village will be in line with those already in place across the city, it has been announced.
Everyone Active – the Council’s leisure operating partner for Moorways Sports Village – has been working to agree the pricing structure, which has now been confirmed.
Councillor Ross McCristal, Derby City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture, Tourism and Wellbeing, said:
It was our intention that Moorways Sports Village should offer the same fantastic value for money as our facilities at Derby Arena and Springwood Leisure Centre and we are pleased to confirm that that is the case, and prices will be consistent with our leisure offer across the city.
Everyone Active has many years’ experience in running local authority leisure facilities. In addition, the Water Park, something we’ve never had before, is competitively priced and will attract visitors from all over the region.
Simon Fearn, Everyone Active’s regional contract manager, said:
The local community and beyond will get superb value for money when they use this state-of-the-art facility.
Moorways Sports Village has a range of fantastic activities for everyone, no matter what your age, interests or ability, all at competitive prices.
For example, casual swimming is included in the £29.99 monthly membership package, which also encompasses use of the 120-station fitness suite, the extensive instructor-led and virtual group exercise class programme and the health suite.
We are so excited to throw open the doors soon and to begin a new chapter for health and wellbeing in Derby.
The standard price for a swimming session in the main pool or teaching pool at Moorways Sports Village will be £5.25 for adults, and under 5s will go free.
During peak times a session in the Water Park, including all the flumes and rides, will be £8.25.
One-hour soft play sessions will be £6.50 at weekends, and £5.50 during weekdays.
As part of their agreement with Derby City Council, Everyone Active will provide a range of concessionary schemes which will honour the criteria and discounts offered by the Council for leisure activities. Eligible customers will save on standard prices for swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions.
Earlier this year the Council announced that leisure operations would cease at Queen’s Leisure Centre once the new £42 million swimming pool and Water Park opens in the spring. The exact date will be announced soon.
The management of Moorways Stadium, next door, will also transfer to Everyone Active, and prices for activities will stay in line with the small increases that are due to happen from 1 April.
Everyone Active has a website for Moorways Sports Village where full information will be available as the opening date approaches.
