Moorways Sports Village is set to extend its state-of-the-art fitness suite as part of an exciting £250,000 refurbishment.
The centre, run by leading operator Everyone Active in partnership with Derby City Council, will see its gym expanded into part of the adjoining changing rooms following a joint investment.
It will feature an additional 21 stations, increasing the overall total to more than 140 stations, including 17 pin and plate-loaded resistance machines provided by Life Fitness, while four new cardio machines will be installed.
Additional features such as new flooring and lighting and a new look and feel will also form part of the refurbishment.
Work is due to start on Monday, August 21 with completion expected by Sunday, October 22.
The fitness suite will remain open while work is carried out and the adjoining changing room will be closed. The downstairs Changing Village will become the centre’s primary changing area.
Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said:
The extended gym is going to be a wonderful facility that will really enhance our state-of-the-art fitness offering at Moorways Sports Village.
These changes will allow us to accommodate the needs of the local community, with the popularity of the centre meaning our number of fitness members has quickly expanded to 4,500.
The upcoming developments are hugely exciting and we will of course keep our customers updated on the project.
Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Culture and Tourism at Derby City Council, said:
It’s so exciting to see Moorways Sports Village go from strength to strength, with fitness membership far exceeding the level we expected to see 15 months after opening. Increasing the footprint of the gym and the number of stations will provide more equipment and space, offering the best to members and enabling more of our citizens to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
