This year's Big Family Read is all about dinosaurs.

Let's go on a dinosaur discovery adventure with Derby Libraries’ Big Family Read. Join in from Mon 20 Feb to Sat 1 Apr with the ROAR-some reading theme of dinosaurs! This reading challenge aims to encourage families across Derby with children aged three to 11, to read for fun with events, activities, and a book competition.

Reading with children has many benefits, from improving vocabulary to broadening budding imaginations. The Big Family Read is the perfect opportunity for families across Derby to get together and read for fun.

To take part, pick up a book about dinosaurs and explore the prehistoric world as a family. It can be any type of book from ebooks, and audiobooks, to traditional paperbacks. Derby Libraries offer a range of titles about dinosaurs to get children started with their reading challenge. Books can be borrowed for free with a library card.

If don’t have a library card sign up online or in-person at the library to get access to the entire Library Catalogue including the eLibrary through the BorrowBox app for ebooks and audiobooks all for free.

To inspire children and their families, Derby Libraries have curated a brand-new collection of specially selected books all about dinosaurs catering for early readers up to 11-year-olds. See their top ten dinosaur books on the Derby Libraries website or visit your local library to browse the collection on display.

Councillor Matthew Eyre, Cabinet Member for Community, Development, Place and Tourism said:
