As part of The Great Winter Get Together, join us at Derby County Football Club on Saturday 21 January 2023 from 1:00pm – 3:15pm for a winter warmth information event. If you would like guidance or advice about the cost-of-living crisis and how to reduce loneliness this winter, the Derby City Council Neighborhoods team will be present with useful information and leaflets.
The Great Winter Get Together is run by the Jo Cox Foundation, and runs from 16 – 29 January, celebrating the places where people can go to connect this winter and combat loneliness. Derby City Council is supporting the Great Winter Get Together campaign, to help tackle loneliness in Derby.
Each day the Council will be putting the spotlight on various warm spaces across the city that have been set up to offer a range of free, social activities including toddler and craft groups, community cafes and knit and natter groups. There are many warm spaces throughout Derby that will be promoted during the fortnight, which started on Monday 16 January.
Councillor Evonne Williams, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Skills, said:
“We would like to thank Derby County Football Club for partnering with us on this event and encourage those who would like assistance to attend. Through the hard work of all those involved over The Great Winter Get Together, we hope to reach those in need and offer them advice and support during this cost-of-living crisis”
As well as these events, Derby City Council partnered with Community Action Derby to create a new cost-of-living webpage. The new webpage has been created to offer as much advice as possible to those in Derby who may need it during this time. A phone number has also been launched, to support those who would like to access free advice. You can call 01332 346266 Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 4pm to speak to a member of the Community Action Derby team.
