Two of Derby’s parks have opened their water play facilities for the summer.

The much-loved paddling pool at Markeaton Park’s Munday Play Centre and the splash pad at Chaddesden Park are welcoming families back for water fun.

Markeaton Park’s paddling pool is open every day from 10.30am until 4.30pm. During opening hours, park rangers will be checking and monitoring the pool and checking water quality every hour to make sure the water stays safe.

If high volumes of visitors begin to impact the quality of the water, visitor numbers may be restricted.

Council colleagues will also be on hand each day to supervise the pool.

The grassed area surrounding the pool will be available for use, while families can also enjoy the park’s other attractions, including:

  • Mundy Play Centre
  • The Orangery Café
  • Mini golf
  • Walks around the gardens

The splash pad at Chaddesden Park is open at weekends and during summer holidays from 12noon until 5pm. Again, user numbers may need to be managed during busy periods to ensure water quality is maintained and everyone is kept safe.

Both facilities will remain open over the summer until Saturday 2 September. Find out more about what’s on offer at Derby’s parks website.
