A new campaign is being launched to encourage visitors to choose Derby for a short break.

Visit Peak District, Derbyshire and Derby, the accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership for the region, launches its ‘Take a Peak’ campaign on Saturday 1 July.

Supported by UK Shared Prosperity funding and Derby City Council, the £50K summer campaign showcases the many great, surprising things to see and do in the city.

Primarily targeting the buzz seeker audience, six key themes are promoted as drivers for booking a short break. These include experiences, shopping, food and drink, culture, events and accommodation.

The campaign is being featured on the newly-refreshed VisitDerby website, the official tourism website for the city of Derby. The site has been redesigned with improved functionality and has lots of inspirational ideas for things to see and do in the city and surrounding areas, including what’s on, where to eat and drink and experiences.

The campaign will be officially launched by Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Deputy Leader of Derby City Council and Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Culture & Tourism. She said:

I'm delighted to launch this new initiative to bring more visitors to Derby. Our businesses are still recovering post Covid and increasing footfall has to be a high priority.

We have so much to see and do in the city and the ‘Take a Peak’ campaign really brings that into focus. We are proud to be part of the new accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership and look forward to more campaigns that will shine a light on Derby.

The partnership team have worked closely with tourism industry partners by encouraging them to share the ‘Take a Peak’ message across their own social media channels to increase reach, share their voice and benefit the business community as a whole by encouraging more visitors.
