Naughty Meg Shadows and Shenanigans is a half-term puppet making workshop at Markeaton Park

The workshops are brought to you by the Babbling Vagabonds

The Babbling Vagabonds will be holding fun-filled workshops for families this October half term.

The workshops are brought to you by the team that creates wonderful family shows in Derby each Christmas.

Naughty Meg’s Shadows and Shenanigans is a hands-on shadow puppet crafting workshop that promises laughter, learning and a touch of the mischievous charm we’ve all come to associate with the Babbling Vagabonds.

Unleash your inner mischief maker and learn how to make a shadow puppet inspired by the antics of the naughtiest girl in the world. You’ll bring it to life and the best part is, you’ll get to take your puppets home, spreading the joy even further.

Workshops will take place at Markeaton Park’s Craft Village Community Room on Tuesday 31 October. There will be three 40-minute workshops to choose from, starting at 10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm. Tickets are £5 for each puppet maker – parents go free if they are supervising.

As the workshops take place at the heart of Markeaton Park, why not make a day of it? The family could enjoy an autumn walk in the park’s beautiful surroundings, blow off some steam at the Mundy Play Centre and grab a tasty treat at the Orangery café.

The Babbling Vagabonds will be back this festive season with Naughty Meg and the Christmas Elves, which will be staged at Derby Museum and Art Gallery on The Wardwick from Thursday 14 until Saturday 30 December.

Born in a storm, Meg has always caused havoc. The naughtiest girl in the world has reduced Mum and Dad to gibbering wrecks, neighbours hide their children from her cruel clutches, even the wasps give this tornado of trouble a wide berth. On one fateful day she upsets the Christmas Elves – and war is declared.

This wickedly comic tale will be enjoyed by anyone who has ever been the slightest bit naughty. Tickets cost £15 or £10 for concessions. Children under 12 months are free and there are BSL sign interpreted and relaxed performances available.

The Babbling Vagabonds Christmas show last year received great reviews:

Fabulous, family friendly, festive fun…had my 4-year-old laughing her head off! Derby Days Out

This show did not disappoint and was the perfect length of time for wriggly bottoms. Lots for Tots

Tickets for both Naughty Meg’s Shadows and Shenanigans and Naughty Meg and the Christmas Elves are available to book now on the Derby LIVE website at the Sales and Information Centre, Guildhall Theatre, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AE, or by calling 01332 255 800.
