A new Bus User Survey has been launched by Derby City Council, inviting passengers and residents to share their views on services in the city.
This survey is an opportunity for citizens to share their views on the improvements that have been carried out over the past twelve months and help shape Derby’s bus services for the future.
Since the last Bus User Survey in December 2023, significant progress has been made including frequency enhancements to the Ilkeston Flyer service, installing 17 new bus shelters and upgrading 36 existing ones, and providing more Real Time Information boards for passengers.
These improvements are part of the Council’s ambition to create a better-connected, greener city, which is being achieved through several measures including making public transport a more attractive option.
Citizens can now give their feedback on these improvements, and bus provision in the city more generally, on the Let's Talk Derby website. The consultation closes on 17 January 2025.
Councillor Carmel Swan, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Transport and Sustainability, said:
We’re on a mission to make Derby a greener, better-connected city, and to do this we need to make the environmentally friendly options more attractive.
We have already made changes to improve passenger experience and the reliability of bus travel in our city, and this consultation is your chance to give us feedback on these improvements.
We want to make Derby a city we can all be proud of and the views of our citizens and communities are vital. I encourage everyone, particularly those who regularly use these routes, to take part in the consultations and have their say.
The Bus Back Better: National Strategy for England calls for Local Transport Authorities to publish an annual Bus Services Improvement Plan (BSIP). Derby’s plan includes several proposals, including initiatives to speed up bus journey times, deliver safer bus shelters, and assist operators in introducing low-emission vehicles.
