Derby Road continues to undergo improvements to deliver better transport options in the area.
The latest phase of works will see the road closed for resurfacing, beginning on Sunday 12 January 2025 for three weeks.
Works will take place overnight, with the closure in place from 10pm-6am Sunday-Friday. The road will remain open on Saturday nights where possible.
The closure will cover the stretch of road between Spondon roundabout and the Raynesway/Acorn Way roundabout, however both roundabouts will remain open.
During the closures, a signed diversion will be in place for through traffic along the A52, via Pentagon Island and Nottingham Road.
The junctions for Aspen Drive and Asda will also be affected. In addition, access to Asda will be subject to some daytime disruption, with traffic being diverted via Aspen Drive.
Both Derby Road and Nottingham Road are undergoing improvements to deliver new infrastructure that makes active travel, such as walking and cycling, easier. This includes new cycle lanes and improved pedestrian crossings.
Resurfacing will commence on Nottingham Road shortly after the completion of the Derby Road works.
These works, delivered by Balfour Beatty, are part of Nottingham and Derby’s Transforming Cities programme, a wider package of works that is creating a more sustainable transport network for the city.
Councillor Carmel Swan, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Transport and Sustainability, said:
Quality infrastructure is essential in our mission to create a greener, better-connected city. This resurfacing on Derby Road is just a small part of a much wider scheme of improvements to this key route.
I appreciate that these works may be disruptive, but we have worked hard with contractors to make sure that access is maintained wherever possible and disruption is kept to a minimum. Thank you for your patience during this time.
