Reuse events will be popping up at Raynesway Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) this summer, giving you the chance to bag a bargain and help the planet.

Derby City Council and HW Martin, who manage Raynesway HWRC, are putting on these events to reduce waste and encourage recycling.

The pop-ups will be open every Friday and Saturday during usual operating hours of 12pm-6pm on Fridays and 8am-6pm on Saturdays.

A wide range of products will be available to buy with card or cash, including toys, furniture and home decor. All the items for sale have been donated at Raynesway and other recycling centres in Derbyshire.

Any profits made from the event will go towards reuse events at Raynesway, with a share going to local charities.

If you’re just visiting the pop-up, you will not need to make a booking. Anyone planning to drop off waste will still need to book a slot as normal, which can be done through the Derby City Council website or by calling 0333 200 6981.

Councillor Ndukwe Onuoha, Cabinet Member for Streetpride, Public Safety and Leisure, said:

“For many, throwing something away is the easy option, but a lot of the items that are brought to Raynesway are still in great condition and can be reused and recycled. If you’ve got any items that are too good to throw away, I’d encourage you to donate them.

“One person’s trash really can be another’s treasure, and events like this are a great way for us to prevent  quality items from being disposed of and raise some money for good causes.

“I hope you’ll be able to come along and remember if you are bringing any waste with you, you will still need to book a slot.”
