Derby City Council is pleased to announce a new round of Household Support Fund (HSF) funding, extending vital assistance to residents amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has provided an additional £2.225 million, to be distributed over the next six months. This support will directly benefit those most in need by helping with essentials like food, energy, and household items.

The HSF will run until 31 March 2025, delivering targeted support through several new and returning initiatives designed to address key areas of concern for Derby’s communities. We will be using the funding to help deliver:

  • Free School Meal Holiday Food Vouchers
  • Online Food Voucher Scheme
  • Warm Welcome Hubs
  • Energy Support Scheme
  • Essential Household Items
  • Financial Wellbeing Workshops
  • And more that is yet to be announced

Councillor Sarah Chambers, Cabinet Member for Cost of Living, Equalities, and Communities, said:

The Household Support Fund continues to be a lifeline for many in our city who are struggling with the rising costs of living. By expanding the fund’s scope and introducing new support measures, we are committed to ensuring that no one in Derby is left behind.

Our initiatives, such as Warm Welcome Hubs and targeted assistance for pensioners and care leavers, will make a real difference this winter. I strongly encourage those who are interested to visit our webpage or get in touch to learn more about what is available.”
