People across the UK are being encouraged to ‘Make a Difference’ in their communities by pursuing fulfilling careers with their local councils. The new campaign, Make a Difference, Work for Your Local Council, aims to inspire individuals from all walks of life to explore rewarding roles that make a direct and lasting impact in their communities.
Local councils provide essential services that residents rely on every day, from social care and environmental health to planning, finance, and more. Following a successful pilot in the North East of England, this campaign highlights the wide range of available roles within council services, welcoming people of all backgrounds and skill levels who are ready to make a difference through local government.
Produced in collaboration with the Local Government Association (LGA), Solace, Regional Employers’ Organisations, councils across the country, and funded by the UK Government, the campaign aims to meet critical staffing needs by attracting new talent to councils. With more than 9 in 10 councils facing recruitment and retention challenges, this initiative addresses workforce shortages and ensures that councils can continue to provide the services on which communities rely every day.
