Nostalgia takes centre stage with the highly anticipated Ride the Mod Wave event on Saturday 16 August, organised in partnership with the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID). Expect music, vintage fashion, scooter displays, dance, and retro-inspired entertainment at Derby Market Hall and across the city centre. The weekend also features the Derby Vintage Fair, and culminates in a high-energy Northern Soul & Motown Night.
Music fans can also look forward to an individual Northern Soul and Motown Night on Saturday 25 July, a Dance Cubana Salsa Extravaganza on Saturday 29 August, regular monthly Karaoke and Open Mic Nights, and live music every single week – including brand-new Friday evening DJ nights hosted in partnership with Baby People.

Families will find plenty to keep children entertained over the school holidays. On Friday 14 August, Derby Emergency Services Day provides the opportunity to get up close to emergency service vehicles, meet local police officers, firefighters and paramedics, and learn more about the vital work they do in our community.
The Market Express: Ride On Railway will be pulling into the venue from Friday 21 August to Sunday 23 August, and again from Friday 28 August to Monday 31 August with free miniature railway rides for children and families.
Complementing the railway theme, the Snap & Chat Connect group will host train-inspired craft workshops twice a week, running every Tuesday and Thursday from 11am to 1pm, starting Thursday 23 July. They will also host a vibrant celebration of photography, art, and creativity with a special Photography Takeover Day on Saturday 25 July.
