Derby is set to champion its ambitious vision for investment, growth, and regeneration at this year’s UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF).

Representatives from Derby City Council, Marketing Derby, and key public and private sector partners will join the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) in Leeds from Tuesday 19 May to Wednesday 21 May to promote Derby as a leading destination for investment, innovation and development.

Council representatives will join UKREiiF at a pivotal moment for the city following the launch of Team Derby, a new partnership bringing together local leaders, major businesses, the University of Derby and government partners to ensure that local people benefit from major investment in the city.

Backed by £10m of Government investment, the partnership focuses on building on Derby’s strengths in rail, aerospace, nuclear, advanced manufacturing and clean energy, helping to create high-quality jobs for city residents, encourage successful high streets and provide visible improvements across the city.

At UKREiiF, Derby will showcase a growing pipeline of significant regeneration and development projects that are reshaping the city centre and transforming it into a vibrant destination that attracts visitors from across the region.

This includes the 1,500-capacity Vaillant Live entertainment and events venue which is driving footfall, culture and economic activity in the city centre.

The city will also showcase itself as the future home of Great British Railways, reinforcing Derby’s rich and significant rail heritage, supporting ambitious investment, innovation and high-quality job creation.

Delegates will also hear about major housing regeneration schemes such as the Castleward Urban Village, a major £100m project in the city centre which has transformed a brownfield area between the Derbion shopping centre and Derby Midland Station into a thriving, sustainable residential area. The project will deliver more than 800 new homes for Derby.

The £80m redevelopment of the Friar Gate Goods Yard is transforming a historic, derelict 19th century railway depot into 227 low-carbon homes, commercial office spaces, a gym, café and public realm spaces.

Derby’s delegation will also highlight the city’s pipeline regeneration projects including the redevelopment of the Market Place, the Station Quarter, St James’s Street, public realm improvements, and the continued growth of Infinity Park Derby.

A key session at UKREiiF, titled Quality Homes, Quality Life: How Derby’s City Living Plans Are More Than Bricks and Mortar, will explore the city’s ambitious approach to urban living, housing and regeneration.

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Leader of Derby City Council, said:

Derby is a city with a rich heritage and enormous ambition. I’m delighted to be attending UKREiiF where we can showcase the scale of investment and regeneration taking place across the city and the strength of public and private partnerships to deliver growth and success in our city.

Through Team Derby, we are bringing together key partners to shape the success of our city’s future, creating the conditions for sustainable growth, attracting investment, supporting innovation and delivering benefits for local communities.

From major regeneration projects such as Vaillant Live, Castleward Urban Village, and the Friar Gate Goods Yard to the future of Great British Railways, I’m proud to deliver the message at UKREiiF that Derby is a strong, ambitious and successful city that is being built for the future.

UKREiiF (UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum) is the UK’s leading event in the real estate calendar – bringing over 16,000 of the most influential players in the sector together.

Derby City Council and Marketing Derby will work together to promote the city’s opportunities and development pipeline whilst also supporting the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) at its pavilion.
