The next phase of the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme will start tomorrow – Saturday 24th March 2018.
Most of the work carried out so far on the A52 has been done overnight, but a lot of the work in this phase will take place during the daytime.
The current phase of works being carried out on midweek nights between 8.00pm and 6.00am finishes this evening. The A52 Brian Clough Way Eastbound between Pentagon Island and Raynesway will be closed overnight. Once the road is reopened on Saturday, lane two will remain closed.
The A52 Westbound, from Raynesway to Pentagon Island, will be closed overnight between 8.00pm and 6.00am on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March. During this time the temporary barrier will be removed. Once the road is reopened on Sunday, lane two will remain closed.
From Sunday 25th March to Thursday 29th March, and then from Tuesday 3rd April to Friday 6th April, one lane will be closed in each direction on the A52 Brian Clough Way. These closures, between the Pentagon and Raynesway junctions, will be in place for 24 hours a day.
The lane closures are needed to create a safe working area for the construction of the new concrete central reservation barrier. Due to the complex process involved in the construction of the barrier, it is essential that the work is carried out in the daytime. This work cannot be done at very low temperatures and completing this work in the daytime, when the weather is milder, will mean the work can be done in a shorter time.
The lane closures will not be in place over the Easter bank holiday weekend. All lanes will be open on Saturday 7th April, ahead of Derby County’s home game.
The daytime work is being done during the Easter school holiday period, when there will be less traffic on the roads. Advance signs will be placed on the A52 and other key routes to let motorists know about the planned works.
There will be disruption to journeys, particularly at peak times, but we hope that this advance notice with allow those who regularly use this route to find an alternative route, avoid peak hours or make other travel arrangements.
