Outline business case
Derby City Council submitted the outline business case to Government on 25 February, which explained the preferred option to combat exceedances of the legal level of NO2 in the city.
The Council further refined the national modelling process and confirmed that Derby had only one location on its network where NO2 concentration exceedances were predicted in 2020 if no action was taken. This was on Stafford Street, which was part of the inner ring road around Derby city centre.
Location | Predicted level of roadside NO2 in 2020 if we take no action |
---|---|
Stafford Street, near to its junction with Friar Gate | 49.3µg/m3 |
The outline business case suggested a traffic management solution to tackle the one area of exceedance identified on Stafford Street and included several junction design changes and a significant modernisation of the Council’s urban traffic management system.
