Electric Scooter Trial

DERBY CITY COUNCIL made this Experimental Order on the 9th day of November 2023, which will become effective from the 20th day of November 2023 for a period of 18 months, under Section 1, 2, 4, 9, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53 and part IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers in that behalf:

The purpose of the order is to bring into effect the following:

Whilst this experimental order is in force the ‘Derby City Council (Moving Vehicle Restrictions) (Conversion to Map Based Schedule) (Consolidation) (Principal) Order 2014 (as amended) shall be varied by permitting electric scooter use where cycles are permitted including: 

•    bus lanes / bus only streets
•    no entry except for cycles / prohibition of driving except cycles
•    shared pedestrian / cycle areas.

Copies of the order and a copy of the Authority’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected on this page.

Derby City Council will be considering, in due course, whether the provisions of this order should be continued in force indefinitely.

Anyone wishing to object to the order continuing in force indefinitely, should state their grounds of objection, sending it in writing to Derby City Council, Traffic and Transportation, Communities and Place, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS or by email to traffic.management@derby.gov.uk to be received no later than the 19th May 2024.
