About Future Mobility Zones
We live in a changing world, and testing new and emerging technology is vital to forecast how people will travel around the city for years to come.
Our submission to the Department for Transport Future Mobility Zones fund will enable us to trial new and exciting developments in transport including; new vehicles, smart ticketing, data driven insights and the sharing economy to help future-proof travel in the city.
Our Future Mobility City programme builds on our schemes, knitting them together to pilot the delivery of innovative approaches to enhancing mobility. This builds on our strong reputation as a national leader for integrated transport planning and delivery, and our position at the forefront of electric mobility.
The Future Mobility Zone covers the Derby and Nottingham conurbations and growth areas including the proposed HS2 East Midlands Hub Station, and East Midlands Airport and East Midlands Gateway employment zones.
The bid seeks to integrate information and payment options to support uptake of new and existing mobility services.
Derby and Nottingham City Councils were successful in being awarded £16.7m Government grant, which will be invested in joint projects to improve connectivity and further encourage use of public transport.
