About Derby Market Hall
Derby Market Hall on Tenant Street is undergoing a major programme of repair and refurbishment works.
The first phase began with extensive roof and structural restoration of its cast iron, copper and glass roof. This was finished in August 2022 and needed a scaffolding structure weighing more than eight blue whales to complete the works.
Before the work on the roof was carried out, the Market Hall often had to close to customers if there was a chance of strong winds, snow, or heavy rain in case the glass windows came out of their frames. These windows have now been replaced, so the Market Hall will now stay open whatever the weather.
The Grade II listed building is now well on its way to being transformed into a contemporary and vibrant destination that will attract visitors from the region and beyond.
Linking Derbion and St Peter’s Quarter to the Cathedral Quarter and Becketwell, the transformed Market Hall will bring together the best of the region’s independent shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment.
