Advice if you're concerned about protests
We’re aware of some potential planned protests due to take place on the evening of Wednesday 7 August in the Normanton area. The Council is working closely with the police and other partners to keep our communities safe and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.
If you’re concerned about your safety and security, the Attacks on organisations - HOPE not hate guide contains more information about staying safe, as well as some further info about far right-wing attacks on organisations.
If you believe that you might be in immediate danger, you should follow the below steps:
- always remove yourself from the area of danger
- return to a location where you can safely call the police or your organisation
- remain in a safe space until help arrives. A safe place is somewhere public with other people around, with lots of exits you can easily leave from
- in an emergency always call 999 and ask for the police. If you can’t, ask someone nearby to do so.
