Bereavement advice
Charter for the Bereaved
The Charter for the Bereaved is written by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management and defines the rights of individuals who experience bereavement.
It also sets the standards of service related to burials, cremations and funerals.
It is a written statement of what you can expect from us and it will also help you to judge the quality of the service you receive from us.
How do I report a death?
If the death is recorded by a doctor you will be issued with a medical certificate and a formal notice explaining how to get the death registered.
You should get the death registered as soon as possible and within five days.
If a death is sudden, or the cause of death is uncertain, the attending doctor will refer the death to the local HM Coroner. The coroner's officer will advise you regarding registration.
Need a copy certificate?
You can apply and pay for a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate online.
