Local Area Coordination
Local Area Coordination is a way to support people in Derby to live their best lives, stay independent, and feel connected to their community. It’s about working together to find practical solutions to life’s challenges, build on people’s strengths, and help people to achieve their goals.
What Is Local Area Coordination?
Local Area Coordination is free for anyone in Derby who might:
- Feel isolated or disconnected from their community.
- Need help navigating local services and resources.
- Want support with a specific challenge or life change.
- Have ideas for improving their community and need support to make them happen.
A Local Area Coordinator is a member of the Council’s team, based in your neighbourhood. They will take the time to get to know you, listen to what’s important to you in your life, and help you create a plan to move forward. Anyone in the City of Derby can get support from a Local Area Coordinator. There are no time limits. They don’t rush people into taking action before they are ready and they value any choices you decide to make about your life.
How Can Local Area Coordination Help?
A Local Area Coordinator can:
- Help you find information about services, groups, or activities in your area.
- Support you to stay independent and connected.
- Introduce you to others who can share advice, experience, or friendship.
- Work with you to tackle challenges and plan for the future.
Local Area Coordinators will be alongside you while you work towards any goals you want to achieve in your life, whether you need a little support or are looking to make a big change.
How to Get in Touch
We’re here to listen, support, and help you to get to where you want to be in life. You don’t need a referral or any special criteria to access this service—just get in touch, and we’ll take it from there.
If you think someone you know would benefit from having a Local Area Coordinator alongside them, please feel free to get in touch. We only ask that you seek the person’s permission before you contact us, as it’s important that they agree to have their information and contact details passed on.
Let’s work together to make Derby a place where everyone feels supported, connected, and valued.
