Clean Bus Technology Fund
The government has confirmed a £30 million Clean Bus Technology Fund to help local authorities address local air quality issues by retrofitting buses.
Local Authorities across England and Wales can bid for funding for bus retrofit projects that can span from 2017 - 2019. Bids will need to demonstrate how the authority intends to use retrofit technology to reduce roadside nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations as part of its air quality plan.
The latest generation of SCRT technology, designed by Eminox, can reduce NOx and NO2 by 99%, and particulate matter by 95%, resulting in emissions equivalent to Euro VI. It also comes with On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) integration and real time remote monitoring via our telematics solution.
Only Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) approved technologies, such as Eminox’s SCRT, will be eligible for the funding. This technology will also upgrade vehicles to Euro VI, the minimum standard for Clean Air Zones (CAZ).
Eminox’s SCRT technology is currently approved for a wide range of diesel and hybrid buses including Volvo and Alexander Dennis as part of an £86 million retrofit programme to upgrade around 5,000 Transport for London (TfL) controlled buses across the capital.
The deadline for applications is midday November 17th with successful bids being announced in January 2018.
