Safeguarding checks - Homes for Ukraine
We are required to carry out checks as part of the Homes for Ukraine support scheme.
In all circumstances, the officer will identify themselves with official photographic identification.
If someone tests positive for COVID or is testing positive on the day of any visits, please notify the attending officer by phone and email.
Before the refugees arrive
We are required to complete DBS checks on all adults in the sponsor household.
If child refugees or vulnerable adults will be arriving, we will conduct enhanced DBS checks on members of your household who are aged 16 and over.
We will use an online system to complete electronic DBS forms and will require you to complete an application form for this purpose. We will also need to verify the details of all applicants. You will be contacted by a duty worker to make these arrangements.
There will be no charge to you for making an application.
After the refugees arrive
After the guests have arrived, we will need to confirm as soon as possible that they are well and that there are no serious safeguarding or welfare concerns or needs for care and support.
This will be undertaken by officers from the Early Help team, Family Visiting Service, social care, or other health professional. The appropriate officer will be in touch to arrange a time and date for the visit.
