Employee support
The Council has made supporting the improvement of employee health and wellbeing a priority.
Employee Assistance Program
We work with Health Assured to provide a professional and confidential Employee Assistance Program including a counselling and advice service to all employees.
Wellbeing timetable
Provided by our partners at Joined up care Derbyshire, colleagues have access to a free weekly timetable of wellbeing activities, bookable workshops and individual wellbeing supports.
Counselling service
We work with AXA to provide a professional and confidential counselling and advice service to all employees.
Mental Health First Aiders
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.
Embedding MHFA training within Derby City Council encourages people to talk more freely about mental health, reduce stigma and create a more positive culture.
Employee networks
We have employee networks that offer help, advice and support in a friendly and safe environment.
We have four employee networks that help us promote equality and diversity at the Council:
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Employees Support Network
- Disabled Employees Network
- LGBTQ+ and Allies Employee Network
- Neurodivergent Employees Network
Strategic Directors support the networks, and employees can attend meetings during working hours.
