Apply for a boatperson licence

Documents required before submitting an application

In support of an application you will need to obtain and supply the following documents. Any application received without supporting documentation will not be processed.

1. Evidence of a relevant Accepted training certification.
2. Basic disclosure from the Disclosure Barring Service (within 1 month of issue) and carried out annually. Here is the link to apply for your basic DBSOpens in new tab.
3. Group 2 Medical – signed by own GP, (a medical will be required on the anniversary of the grant of a boatperson licence).
4. Signed declaration – Inland Waters Small Passenger Boat Codes.
5. Passport sized photograph.
6. Fee.
