Resident Parking Zone - Pear Tree Area
Over the years, the Council has become aware of concerns about parking in the area, receiving many enquiries requesting the introduction of resident only parking. Previously, when these requests were investigated there was either limited evidence of non-resident parking or the level of support was insufficient.
However, new proposals for the introduction of pay and display parking within the Francis Ley and Robinsons Industrial Estates are now being considered. As part of these plans the idea is to consult on the introduction of a resident parking zone to cover the area shown on the plan.
Typically, whenever new parking restrictions are proposed, the extent of displacement is unpredictable. However, because of previous concerns about non-resident parking within the area and the risk it might increase following the changes proposed, the intention is now to consult more widely on the possibility of introducing a resident only parking zone.
The consultation is open for a period of 12 weeks, ending in May 2025. This will provide enough time to raise awareness and for people to engage and respond. Please be informed, resident only parking schemes normally require the support of a majority of more than 50% of all residents to be introduced. Resident only parking is unlikely to be introduced unless this is achieved.
The consultation is being conducted online and should only take a few minutes to complete. All we require is a house number, street name, if you support the proposal and whether you feel a scheme should be applicable all or part of the time.
To help you understand and decide whether to support the proposal, see the resident information sheet. Remember, the only way the Council can decide to move forward with the proposal is by you completing the survey. If you would like a paper copy of the survey, telephone 01332 640000 with your name and postal address details.
