Review of polling districts and polling places 2019
To improve voting facilities for our electors and, as far as possible, to make polling stations accessible, we are carrying out a review of the suitability poll polling places across the city. We welcome comments regarding the suitability and location of current venues used for polling from all stakeholders including those with disabilities. Our last review was carried out in 2013. The Electoral Administration Act 2006 requires us to carry out a review by 31st January 2020 and every five years afterwards.
The initial consultation period for the review where comments can be made about existing polling arrangements runs from Thursday 1st August to Sunday 22nd September 2019 inclusive.
Consultation on the (Acting) Returning Officer's proposals for polling districts and polling places was open for comment from Monday 23rd September until Sunday 20th October 2019.
Due to the unplanned Parliamentary Election on Thursday 12 December 2019, the final recommendations of the (Acting) Returning Officer will be contained in a report to be approved at Full Council on Wednesday 22 January 2020. If approved, the implementation of the recommendations will be part of the publication of the revised electoral register on February 1 2020.
Paper versions and ward maps will be available to view at the following locations:
- Main reception, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby
- Allestree Library, Park Farm Centre, Allestree, Derby
- Chaddesden Library, Chaddesden Park, Chaddesden, Derby
Comments in relation to the suitability of existing and future venues are welcome by emailing elections@derby.gov.uk as the review progresses.
