What are weighbridge operator certificates?

The law states that to operate a public weighbridge, you need a certificate issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.

A person who wants to apply for a public weighbridge operator's certificate will be tested by an Inspector of Weights and Measures. This is to make sure that they can operate the equipment properly and includes the use of related or linked equipment such as:

  • computers
  • printers.

Any applicant will also need to show that they can properly and accurately record and calculate the results of any weighing.

How do I apply for a weighbridge operator certificate?

If you wish to apply for a certificate to operate public weighing equipment, please contact us.
