Public Inquiry at Royal Hill Road, Spondon
A Public Inquiry is taking place following the refusal of an outline application for planning permission for a residential development of up to 90 dwellings.
Application 23/01631/OUT was submitted in November 2023.

This application was heard at the Planning Control Committee in May 2024. The application was refused planning permission and the applicants then submitted a planning appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. An inspector has been appointed to decide the appeal.
The Inquiry will open at 10am on Tuesday 15 April 2025 and for up to four days.
The Inquiry will sit on 15, 16 and 17 April and then again on 29 April if required.
The Inquiry will take place in the Council Chamber, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS.
The Planning Inspectorate reference number is APP/C1055/W/24/3356476.

Members of the public may attend the Inquiry and, at the Planning Inspector’s discretion, express their views.
Case management conference
On the 6 February 2025 the Planning Inspector appointed to hear this appeal on behalf of the Secretary of State held a case management conference with the representatives for the Council and the Appellant which took place virtually. No discussion took place on merits of the respective parties cases and no evidence was heard or submitted. The purpose of the conference was to set out a clear indication of the ongoing management of the appeals and the presentation of the evidence so that the forthcoming inquiry is conducted in the most efficient and effective manner.
